Coloured Contact Lenses
29-07-2016
Contact lenses wearers can accessorize their daily appearance with coloured contact lenses. Coloured contact lenses allow individuals to change their eye colour to create looks that are subtle, bold or somewhere in between. — whether you want to enhance your everyday look or rock a crazy design for Halloween and other special occasions.
Coloured contacts are available in both prescription and non-prescription forms and most are designed to mimic the natural look of the iris - the coloured portion of the eye. Since the iris is comprised of colourful geometric shapes and lines, many coloured contacts incorporate a series of tiny coloured dots and radially distributed lines and shapes to help the lenses achieve a natural look on the eye.
Coloured contacts are available in three types of tints:
- Visibility Tint. Often a light blue or green tint added to a lens to assist individuals to see the lens better during insertion and removal, or if it is dropped. Visibility tints are typically faint and do not affect eye colour in any noticeable way.
- Enhancement Tint. A solid but translucent tint that is a slightly darker than a visibility tint. Enhancement tints enhance the natural colour of the eyes. Coloured contacts with enhanced tint are best suited for people who have light-coloured eyes and wish to make their eye colour more vibrant or intense.
- Opaque Tint. This is a non-transparent tint that can change eye colour completely. Individuals with dark eyes will require this type of coloured contact lens to their eye colour.
Regardless of the tint type, the cost of coloured contacts can be significantly more than that of regular contacts. However, for many individuals, the ability to change eye colour is well worth the investment.
